Where We Are The Cosmos Mystery Area is nested in the heart of the Black Hills of South Dakota. We are located a scenic half-mile off US 16, west bound, 17 miles south of Rapid City between Bear Country and Mount Rushmore. The Cosmos is easily reached from anywhere in the Black Hills. See the Maps page a more visual representation of our location! ----------------------- How to Get Here To reach the Cosmos, go South on HWY 16 from Rapid City past Rockerville until you see the blue entrance sign for the Cosmos. Turn into the left hand access lane and drive down Cosmos Rd. until you reach the Cosmos Mystery Area.
